FAQs

FAQs

Q: Where will my massage take place?
A: Your massage session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a padded table that is designed for your comfort.

Q: Who will perform the massage?
A: Your session will be conducted by a licensed massage therapist who has received proper training. Our massage therapists are licensed with the town of Salem, New Hampshire as well as the State of New Hampshire.

Q: Must I be completely undressed?
A: Most massage techniques are performed with the client undressed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort.

Q: Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?
A: The therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet and blanket.

Q: Will I be covered during the session?
A: You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

Q: What parts of my body will be massaged?
A: You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals or breasts.

Q: Will lubricant be used?
A: A light oil or lotion may be used to permit muscles to be worked on without causing friction to the skin. The lubricants will hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed. We use only the finest products.
Q: What will the massage be like?
A: It depends on the techniques used. In general, your session may start with relaxing strokes to calm your nervous system and relax muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas that need attention. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage is most effective when your body is not resisting.

Q: How long will the session last?
A: The average full-body massage session lasts 1 hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, or legs and feet. Most people prefer an hour session for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after your session.

Q: What should I do during the massage session?
A: Make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during their session. Feel free to ask the therapist questions about therapeutic massage.

Q: How will I feel after my massage session?
A: Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, you may experience increased energy.

Q: Are there any medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable?
A: Before you begin your session, your therapist will have you fill out a health history form. It is very important that you inform the therapist of any health problems you may have. After talking with you and taking your health history, your therapist will decide which techniques you will benefit from.
